Results of your tests are seen and commented on by a doctor (usually your own doctor or the doctor who has arranged them) before they are made available to patients.
- For blood test results, please expect to wait at least 2 working days.
- For urine, sputum and swabs, please allow at least 3 working days.
- for X-Rays, please allow at least 10 working days.
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your SystmOnline account
- by phoning us on Ludgershall 01264 790356 or Tidworth 01980 842261 and we will tell you what the results are
- as a text message, if you have consented and it is applicable
We do ask that you do not assume that a result is normal if we do not contact you. The surgery will contact you if there is a significant problem with your results, but please try and review all results as the GP may have given some advice, even if there is not a significant problem. Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results, therefore it is your responsibly to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In respect of this, if you do call, we will only give out results to the person they relate to, unless that person has given prior consent.
If the test was arranged by the hospital
If your test has been carried out at a hospital, please call them for the result, as we cannot action these test results which have been requested by other clinicians outside the practice.
Alternatively you could contact the relevant ward/department where you attended. Please click here for Royal Hampshire County Hospital, here for Salisbury District Hospital or here for Southampton General Hospital.
Questions about your results
If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out a test results request form and someone will be in touch.
Specimens
All specimens must be provided in a suitable container and marked clearly with name, date of birth and the date of sample provided. Failure to do so may lead to the test needing to be repeated.
Please note that when bringing in a sample to reception, they must be provided in the correct container. These are available at reception.
