Carers

The Castle Practice is proud to support patients who provide care and support to a family member, spouse, partner, friend or neighbour for free. Help without which the person could not cope.

People often do not realise they have become a carer as the level of help creeps up, or because they are doing what they feel is right. However, it can impact on the carer’s own health, wealth and freedom. If you feel you have joined this valiant band, do ask for our useful free carer’s pack at reception and you are welcome to talk to:

  • Sharon Lewis at Tidworth
  • Sue Winstone at Ludgershall

If they are not available, a message will be taken and passed on so they can respond.

Our Social prescribing team is led by Dr Louise O’Leary.

Young carers

Children, young people and young adult carers

Please speak to Sharon or Sue at reception and we will get one of our social prescribing link workers to help register you for support. There is a lot of age appropriate help out there, but the on-line referral form is very complicated and they can guide you through it.

There is additional help if you are aged 5 – 16 with:
Youth Action Wiltshire
Young Carers Alliance
The Children’s Society Supporting Young Carers
Ideas and Guidance for you from the NHS Help for young carers
Young carers and young adult carers
